Description

The State of Jammu & Kashmir is situated in north India. The State of Jammu and Kashmir shares a worldwide boundary with China in the east and north. It is situated mainly in the Himalayan peaks, and shares boundaries with the states of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to the south. Valley of Kashmir is popular for its stunning mountainous scenery, and several temples of Jammu attract a large number of Hindu pilgrims annually. Jammu and Kashmir comprises 3 areas Ladakh, the Kashmir Valley and Jammu. Jammu is the winter capital and Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu & Kashmir. It is the only state of India where most of the people are Muslims. Ladakh, also known as Little Tibet, is famous for its remote mountain magnificence and Buddhist customs. 

The State of Jammu and Kashmir is dwelling to some valleys such as the Lidder vale, Sind vale, Chenab vale, Poonch vale, Tawi vale and Kashmir vale. The Jhelum River is one of the main Himalayan River which flows through the vale of Kashmir. Some of the main rivers flowing through Jammu & Kashmir are Ravi, Chenab, Indus & Tawi. Due to broad variety of altitudes of Jammu & Kashmir, its biogeography is varied. This thickly established and stunning vale has an average elevation of 1,848 metres above sea level but the adjoining Pir Panjal range has an average altitude of 4,998 metres. The State is also dwelling to some Himalayan glaciers. With an average elevation of 5,751 metres above sea-level, the Siachen Glacier is 75 km one of the longest Glacier of Himalaya.

TOURISM OF JAMMU & KASHMIR
Jammu and Kashmir is dwelling to some valleys such as the Sindh Valley, Lidder Valley, Chenab Valley and Kashmir Valley. Famous tourist spots of Jammu and Kashmir are Gulmarg, Srinagar, the Mughal Gardens, Jammu, Patnitop and Pahalgam. Annually, lot of Hindu pilgrims visit holy temples of Amarnath and Vaishno Devi which has a significant impact on the economy of the state. Jammu and Kashmir is well-known for its picturesque beauty, apple farms, flower gardens and more. It attracts tourists for its handicrafts and the well-known Kashmiri Shawls. Gulmarg is one of the most popular ski resort destinations in India, is also dwelling to the world's highest green golf course. The Kashmir valley is one of the top tourist spot of India. The decrease in violence of Jammu & Kashmir has a positive impact on the tourism of the state.
